Lake Frederick 4 mottlet
I fish it now and then, and I'm thinking of making home base these days becuase the drive is quicker than Brittle, and Fountainhead is now a once a tear journey these days for me. When I lived in Reston I used to hit Fountainhead about twice a month. Needless to say living in Loudoun sucks when it comes to fishn'. I'll take the property values and average income rating, but the fishn' blows.
I was at ole lake Fredneck a few weeks ago with my boy and we didn't get doodely out there. It's deep but not like Fountainhead, but it has those steep sides. You walk out 15 or 20 feet from the bank and your in 15 feet of water. Getting there is tricky it's got a fairly unmarked entrance from the highway and it's just a little one lane with some speed bumps and bad pot holes, they have a small marina and nice bait and tackle shop called the "minnow bucket". Maybe if I'm a good boy mommy[wifey]will let me come out and play with you one day.
If Frederick noted for one thing, it's the damn weeds. I hope your a weed fisherman. In a couple of weeks the weeds will poking through 8 feet of water. The timbers are there but development is moving in and the tree may become less. It's just like Brittle now, they are putting houses right up on it.
Whoop, 10:00 oclock, gotta go.

I found the lake when I was out there doing something one day, who knows. But yeah, that turn is tough to find. I haven't lost a jig in two days of fishing the tops down to eight feet at Fountainhead, though there have been some I didn't think I would get back but managed to rescue. So naw, I ain't afraid of a few weeds.
Over at the opposite end of NoVA...what do you know about Aquia Creek? I've heard of folks doing real well out there, especially trolling and spider rigging. But I thought that eating fish from that part of the world was a no-no. And since I'm not chasing specks for their fighting characteristics...

Aquia is out of my reach currently, not to mention I don't know a thing about it.
I hope to get back to Fredneck soon before it gets too hot, gonna try the boat thing with my 4 year old this this year.
If you go back to the google earth Fountainhead map I had in the other post, lines 2,1 and 4(in that order). Put some medium shinners on those spots, should do some good. BEWARE Fountainhead has monster cats it's not uncommon for a rod to overboard.
