I never have done very good on West Neck.
Hit the North Landing River which is only around 9 miles from my house and caught some of the smallest crappie I have ever seen. My two biggest were around 12" and 15oz and 14oz but boy did I catch a bunch of dinks. Kalins Money jig does well for me on this river but I also had good luck with Electric Chicken (pink/chartreuse) and got a few later in the day (fished from just before 7 to noon) with Monkey Milk which also did well on the Chick Lake. Electric Chicken seems to work on most bodies of water in SE Virginia. It really wasn't bad on the water with the SE wind blowing. I showed surface water temp at 87. Most the crappie were caught up West Neck Creek fishing 4' to 6' deep in water 6' to 8'.

On the bright side of things atleast you got to catch some I don't fish much for crappie in the summer time but I'm about to start wading the river for bass and sunnies
Sounds like my summer. Lots of fish but no size!!! I fished for a short while on Sunday. I was heading to Bob's fishing hole and for some reason I stopped and launched at the centerville bridge and went up river and fished the old R/R fenders. Lots of small fish but I caught a little of every thing. Better than catching nothing. I'm gonna check this place out some more. Glad to get some reports. Thanks George!!!!
