After somewhere near 14 years fishing the Suffolk Lakes I finally got my citation, and one more for good measure. (verified Lake Meade boat station) Unbelievable, two in one day. Caught 18 total, my freezer has plenty of crappie in it so I was only keeping 1lb or better. My wife will be home in about an hour with the camera, so pictures are forthcoming. I love numbers, so here you go, the biggest 12 (one under 1lb snuck in):
15.5" 2lb 2.75oz
15.0" 2lb 0.25oz
14.5" 1lb 12.5oz
13.5" 1lb 8.5oz
13.0" 1lb 4.25oz
13.0" 1lb 3.75oz
13.0" 1lb 3.5oz
13.0" 1lb 2.5oz
13.0" 1lb 2.5oz
12.5" 1lb 4.75oz
12.0" 1lb 0.75oz
11.5" 0lb 15.5oz
I was on the lake at sunrise. Saw three deer on the way in, goats grazing at the water line across from where I put in. No wind, temp was 37 when I left my house. Caught all of them between 7:30 and 11:00. I was having better luck vertical jigging so I had my sliding bobber out of the way when all of a sudden I saw my bobber take a deep dive, pulled in the 15.5". Later on, while messing with my sliding bobber pole, I saw my other pole (with a jig on it) moving, set the hook and pulled in my 15". All caught 8'-12' deep in 16'-26' of water. I even let two go that were just over 15oz. Wind picked up at 10:30, fishing died down shortly there after. Around 1:30 I weighed my two big crappie and said the heck with fishing, I'm going to get them officially weighed. Probably caught 12 on jig the other 6 with minnow 10' deep. Minnow produced the 15.5" and 14.5" but I did get the 15.0" with this jig.

lol, the pics with me smiling looked goofy so I went with the "no emotion" look.Originally Posted by Crappisaurusrex
The best part was that all the crappie fought like monsters. Water temp was 53-55.

I've had some tell me that lakes that are only 30'-35' don't turn over. To be honest, I don't know that I really understand how to tell if a lake has turned over or if I've even ever seen it happen. How does one tell if a lake has turned over? The water was a bit muddy from the rain we just had. The leaves weren't a problem so that was a good thing.Originally Posted by horseshoer

Sweet! Congrats on the double paperwork.
And you win the "crappie fever" award too! Noticed the t-shirt and the fridge magnets! :D
