After being disowned by my crappie.com family for catching the most worthless of all trash fish (green carp) while fishing with Horseshoer yesterday, I decided I had to restore the honor to my screen name and beg for forgiveness from my fishing family by catching a bunch of crappie. If I failed to do that, I was going to pull the plug from my boat and go down with the ship to save face. The weather forecast is looking worse the later in the week it gets so I decided to journey to Beaverdam and fullfill my destiny or suffer my fate.
I was on the water at noon and caught 30-36 (lost count) CRAPPIE. The majority of them were keepers with the largest being 12". They were caught about 18'-20' deep in 22' of water. The fish were laying right on the bottom and I could see them come off the bottom to take the bait on my depth finder. I recently started adding jig spinners for some extra flash while strolling in deeper water and it has made a positive difference. Their favorite is a #3 willow leaf in either gold or silver. This just happens to be about the same size and shape as a crappie minnow. I caught some of the bigest ones while moving with the wind at a higher speed. The baits would raise to the 12'-15' depth range where I noticed some suspended fish in a couple of areas and threw some markers out.
I hope this outing restores honor to my screen name and y'all can forgive me for catching too many trash fish and welcome me back into the crappie fishing family. I promise to try my hardest and not catch any more 3-4 pound green carp.:D
I'm proud to say I am the PanMan and will prove it almost any time almost any where.![]()

and attach the blade with a split ring. I attach a regular round head jig with whatever type tail I want to use to the wire form.
A few years ago, my father made a bunch of these for me so he would have something to do on the cold winter days. He used a #0 Colorado blade which is too small. I recently dug the forms out of my tackle box and switched to a #3 willow leaf blade. The blade keeps the bait a little more weedless and seems to slow the sink rate. He also made some in-line spinner forms for me that I use on occasion to show the fish something different.

I will give you credit for finally coming to your senses. While you cannot erase the past, and while we can never forget or fully forgive you for your hideous actions, we are willing to accept you back into the fold (on double secret probation)
An intervention @ Hooters may be required:D
BTW, good catch!

I guess since you are back on the Crappie Trail I can rip up the membership application the Little Creek Bass Anglers Club gave me to give to you.
I am truly sorry I went turncoat on ya but the Lunker Sauce was too good to pass up.
As always, the photo of you and the carp is for sale.
You never really fell out of good standing with me. Anyone who can come here and get some of those carp out of my home water is a friend. I thought the pepper spray, Cajun Injector with anti-freeze, & cutting off their tails was overkill but to each their own.
SH has an excellent idea. After a character assassination of this magnitude
the only place to restore order will be Hooters.

Good job Keith. I Have been known to use spinners in the past while trolling but not with the willow blades. I'll have to try it.
NEED MORE COWBELL!!

Thank goodness that has been straightened out. We all catch a green carp once in a while. It can't be helped and if it is over 8lb its ok to brag just a little bit about it. But to catch one that size and then get your picture taken with it and have a grin on your face is down right obscene. I'm sure glad you have seen the light Keith and repented. You will also be glad to know I canceled my request to Ed to create a XXX picture forum.

PanMan, Do you use the style A or Style C jig spinner form?

Fried Crappie.... "The real thing".
I'm using old ones (bought or made in the early 90s) that are 3/4 x 1-1/4, which is close to style C.Originally Posted by Billy2
