Lake Prince
http://www.norfolk.gov/utilities/res...ishingMaps.asp
I saw the post on Prince, use to fish it 20 or so times a year in the winter, here some spots to try. At the first bridge there are some ladder looking things hanging down, they are there to mark the concrete piers from the old bridge. They are about 4' down from the surface. Past the bridge to the left is a small hump the top of which is about 9' deep, if you find the top head back to the channel and look for a 2' to 3' rise in 15' of water, that is the walls of an old building and tere are stumps all around it, good spot for big sunfish too. Next place is the long cove to the left, at the first point across from the long island is a rock pile and in the channel between the point and the island is an old dock in 20' of water. At the back of that cove is a dam from a old pond, that area holds some crappie and some big yellow perch. Next is th Girl Scout Cove, past the bridge there is an old bridge in 15' of water, it's before the split, look for the road cut on the banks. At hte split there are some dead trees, I don't know if they are still visible.

When you say "past the brige on the left", does this mean without going under the bridge? Which long cove are you talking about? Just wondering if you would be kind enough to be more specific. I prefer to fish Burnt Mills but with it close I've been spending more time on Prince. How did you know that the old building was there? I never knew Prince had any rock piles, I sure would like to find them. Thanks for any help.

It's the long cove after going under the bridge with the long island in the middle of it, if you go all the way to the back of it you will see the dam from an old farm pond, The rock pile is the foundation of an old barn or stable, we found some horseshoes there when the water was down. I worked a job in Sufolk back in the 80's with a guy who's granddad lived on some of the land that was flooded for the lake, he knew where a lot of the places where. Scott and I went there back when the lake was down 15', he took a bunch of pictures, but I think his ex-wife threw them out.

Good info Boscoe. I had to thank you because without you tips I wouldn't have seen most of the stuff you talked of. To bad the had vacancy signs on the fish finder. I'll have to keep trying them until they are there.

We use to catch them all winter somewhere around that long island, sometimes they just suspend in the channel not relating to anything. The little hump past the bridge holds big gills year round. I caught two there in 84 that were 1lb 4oz and 1lb 2oz in July fishing crawlers on the bottom. We caught 60 3/4lbers same spot on Christmas Eve that year with the same rig.

I remember seeing the lake really low that year, of course I don't remember which year it was but it was a while back. I think we were in a drought that year?
