With the seasonal autumn breezes upon us the Virginia boater will frequently
be faced with on loading his boat at the end of the day in a stiff cross-wind.
This should not present such a problem as I see it causing many boaters, even if you are loading alone.
Back your trailer in the water at the ramp only far enough that the top of the fenders are still above the water but the trailer frame forward them is below water.
Load your boat from the side of the trailer, driving on forward of the fenders and perpendicular to the trailer. Center your boat lengthways across the trailer. There will be some grinding of the boats hull against the trailer frame but hey-it isn't made out of Play Dough. Drive out and arrange your boat to properly sit on the trailer.
Or strap it on like that and get a Wide Load sign.

When it is windy out, it is even easier to do it this way...
Keep in mind this only works if you have a truck...
When the truck and trailor are backed down the ramp... get in the boat and line it up with the trailer... now this is where the problem of the wind arises... instead of fighting the wind, just gun it... the wind should not effect the boat that way and you'll shoot straight through the trailer and into the back of the pick up...No need to strap it or even pull the plug, the holes in the bottom will drain the water and the motor should have shut off on impact...
So there you have it... the easiest way I have found to load your boat in the wind
This only my opinion, but nothing you can say will change my mind. That makes it a FACT.
Today is a Blessed Day and a Prosperous Day
I think I can still do that with my Cherokee! :D
Currently a non-fishing slacker! (not for too much longer)
