Duck season opens Saturday morning. There are very few birds in the swamps but being opening day I guess that's where I'll be.

Not sure about this weekend but next weekend I'll be in the Star City looking for slabs and smallies in the Roanoke River. I made a deal with the Mrs. She gets Friday to go shop till she drops without the younguns and I get Sat. all to myself so I can explore the fineries of SW VA's waters. Good luck on the northwest. Rex tells me that's a great place to land ring perch. Get Pix!

Brian, what they be talking about That must be some special code word they use when they are talking about grinnel because I never heard of anyone catching yellow perch @ N.W.

I may be at Northwest again with my brother. I think I've sold him on the trolling thing. Keeping an eye on the forecast.

Pete's got some spare long poles and I'm sure he wouldn't mind lending you a few if you want to try them out. Further from the boat = more fish

Good luck, and miss one for me:D I'm getting reports of good numbers @ Back Bay and Currituck. One of my co-workers (and guests) killed 16 @ Knott's Island on Sat. It was their opener. That's a pretty good day. They probably didn't spend more than 2 or 300 dollars per duck:D

Thanks Brad, maybe this front will push some of the birds back inland for Saturday moring. I picked up my American Shoveler I had mounted from last year and he really does look good. Remind me to show him to you the next time your down. Never did get down to Somerton Creek the other week. Might try it Sunday morning.

Hey that would be great Brad. Thanks.
Make sure you tell Pete I appreciate you lending out his stuff for him! That's awefully nice of him to do that!
