Default Lake Prince 11-11-06, some luck early.

Decided to give my old hole a visit. Got on the lake around 7:15-7:30 and within the first hour or so caught 10 crappie of which 6 were near or over a pound. Actually, I just got a new digital fish scale that goes to the quarter pound so here's some exact numbers. (I have to justify my $30 purchase)

    14"-1lb 9.5oz
    13"-1lb 3.75oz
    12"-1lb 1.75oz
    12"-15.75oz
    12"-15.25oz
    12"-15.25oz

Then, someone turned the crappie switch off and over the next 7 hours or so I only caught one crappie. Did have some fun catching a decent sized pike on my ultralite combo. My poor wife only caught one crappie all day long. Had a gar or pike bite her line twice. She has the worse luck.

I just got back from New Jersey last night around 8:30, (360 miles) and get to drive back up tomorrow, returning on Friday, setting up another fishing trip next Saturday. Sadly, as I was leaving northern Jersey on the turnpike I saw a truck in flames alongside the road. (opposite direction) The cab was totally engulfed in flames, no sooner had I thought "I hope the driver got out" that I noticed around 30' behind the truck a man was lying on the ground with his pants on fire, I mean 2' flames. Oddly, he was just kicking his legs and not rolling (not sure if rolling on concrete will help) I was going 65mph in the opposite direction with 4 lanes of traffic between us, not much I could do. Someone was heading towards him and a rescue car was around a half mile down the road heading his way fast. I sure hope someone was able to help him. Made me want to put a fire extinguisher in all my vehicles. Rather disturbing to see someone on fire.

Looks like you had a pretty good day fishing. That would be disturbing seeing someone on fire. Hope they are allright.

That's a nice bag to bring home. Haven't been to Prince in a while. Makes me want to go again. Good report.

Your must have one of the most patient wives ever. An hour or two of no fish and my wife is ready to go fo sure.

It helps that I was out of town this past week and am heading out again tonight for another week. Needed to spend some "quality time" together.

Forgot to mention that I caught all of them under a bridge, 10' deep. 6 with minnows 5 vertical jigging. I thought that if they were under the bridges at Diascunds, why not at Prince. Funny how things just switched off. The bridge I was fishing is 24'-26' deep along four sets of the pylons and 16'-10' on the outer ones. The ones I caught were in 16'-24' of water.
