Didnt get in till 1:00, had to be out 4:30. Lower end of res. still closed at tunnel. They let water out to work on dam and no feeder so rainfall only source of filling. May be awhile.
Fished minnows & jigs about 8 crappie over 10" biggest 12-1/2 on brush up a
cove.Cpl small bream, 1 small ringperch, 2 gr carp, 1 about 2 lbs.
Spent atleast 1/2 my fishing time dragging a Shad Rap around with striper in mind but not to be. Also spent some time on shore with Boudreaux.
Didnt keep any fish. Even if I would not have had a single bite it was hard to go wrong fishing, a beautiful day. I woulda went straight to Diascund if big slabs was on top of list but I enjoy the outting too and went to Waller Mill to see the place in its fall colors. Wasn't dissappointed. Saw a cpl hen turkeys up close and a beaver. We beached the Onion in a secluded cove and Boudreaux swam some and I had made us both a good lunch so we kicked back, soaked up some sun, ate, and contemplated the meaning of life for awhile.
Heres a few pics.

Just depends on rainfall. They closed it because people were renting boats/tr motors and trashing out the tr motors trying to get thru tunnel.Originally Posted by Crappisaurusrex

But it will be some time I think barring a cpl good noreasters with alot of rain.
Tony expand the last pic I posted above out and the water deficit is marked pretty clear on the shoreline. I would say a good 3 ft low.

When I went a few w/e ago it was way low. I hoped to run into a few stripes myself but alas nothing. It was definitely beautiful out there and I enjoyed being on the water. I'd like to go again when it's full pool and go to the north end since most of those fishes won't have seen a lure in a long time by then. I guess next spring it might be set right. till then it's other haunts. i think we oughta try a few field trips to the following places that haven't been mentioned on here lately:
harrison lake
chesdin lake
pocahontas state park
swift creek
I'm planning on hittin Carvin's Cove in Roanoke Thanksgiving w/e. The water's crystal clear and the fish aren't too pressured.
Glad you and boody had a nice day on the water. Nice to hear you got on some crappie though. I figure if anyone on the board could do it you'd be the one!
