    Default Tandem axle trailer

Well, I've made up my mind to sell my boat and am buying one with a tandem axle trailer..What are the pros & cons? My boat is a 17 1/2' Hydra-Sports with single axle. The boat I'm buying is a 19'2" Bass Cat with tandem axle...What can I expect from this move...Will the Bass Cat be a lot heavier to pull or will the dual axle help?

    Thanks for your input.

Don, with the added weight you can probably assume that there will be some difference in the way the trailer pulls. In my experience with tandem trailers the extra axle will help with sway more than anything and help you track right...( truck and trailer stay in line). You will see the difference when you make lane changes and go around corners....boat and trailer should line right up behind the truck when you straighten out without as much bobble from side to side. I would guess it has brakes so keep a check on them as well. Good luck with the new boat. Billy

The tandem axles should help reduce the load on the suspension components and provide for a better towing experience. The only drawback is now you have twice as many wheels and bearings to maintain, but the bearings will need to be replaced less often.

my concern would be more on the fact of rollers or a bunk trailor- towing is nothing !! loading and unloading makes all the differance- hopefully you have bunks not rollers. i may be thinking too big a scale here

Congratulations Don. Bass Cat's are suppose to be good boats at least I've never heard anything bad about them. We are anxiously awaiting pics.
