    Default LCR Report 3-10-10

Put my boat in for the 1st time yesterday at LCR. Got a late start and did not get on the water till around 10:30. Made about a 30 minute run and fished one of the coves where I had been before with Doodlum. Fished it for around 1 hour and caught small bass on my way out. Made another long run to a popular area and manage to catch 4 nice crappie between 11" to 13". Fish were in 20' to 45' of water between 5' to 10' deep. Water temp around 47 degrees. Fish caught on jig and minnow combos. Decided to head back and ran wide open with my trolling motor - a blazing 2 MPH - for about 35 minutes when my wiring to the trolling motor had a smoking meltdown. Ouch! Had to start the big motor and idled on back to the dock. Not a great day but I do like the way this lake looks. I really do need a bigger trolling motor though, mine has 55 lbs of thrust but 2 MPH on a lake this size is just too slow. Here are a couple of pics. The way my fishing year has been so far even 4 fish is worthy of a picture.

At least you caught a few. Too bad that lakes TMO, it kills me to go that slow.

    Default Looks Familiar

That cooler looks vaguely familiar , except yours is blue and has fish in it. Sorry Corker could not resist. That's LCR on one day on off the next two weeks.
I personally think that the water has cleared up ( visibility Mon. was over six to eight feet) to where they are spooking easily. Remember in the fall l when we caught them they were hiding in the grass.
At least your bagged a few good quality fish.

You may be right & that would argue in favor of longline trolling. I did a little of that yesterday, but maybe not enough.

Nice fish Roy. That place can be fickle. I have left there with 4 less than you caught.
