After disappointing results last weekend, LCR was giving up a few today. Water was 40* - 42* and the wind stayed down this morning. I found fish in water ranging from 15' to 40', including a few of these-
Specks were taking minnows and minnow-tipped jigs. My biggest was 13" -
The other 32 ranged from 9" to 12" but were mostly 11" +/- half an inch.
By 1400, the wind was picking up, so I loaded the boat on the trailer & came home. All-in-all, a good day on the water.
sounds like a good day corker.![]()
WTG Cork, nice pic's and report.
good report and dang good day ....you dialing in it on that lake good work:D
nice job corker, those pike sure make that line sing.
Never take the advice of someone who has not had your kind of trouble!
Thats not a telescopic cane pole in your had. What? you done gone high tech on us.:D How is the new rig coming along.
Nice job! Way to catch them. You'll have that lake figured out in no time, but there are so many places to fish there for crappie, it's not even funny!
"Fletch had a catch of a lifetime and he was even standing up when he caught it!"
If there's one thing this crowd does well, it's surveillance of one another. You are correct, that is not a scopic. It's an 11' Gander Mtn. clearance item with a trashy old Daiwa push-button reel that's about to be thrown away and replaced with a less-trashy Mitchell relic.
I started down this path last fall when the Lake Abel specks decided to drop off into the 40' - 60' water. The bite was at 20'+ and my 14' scopics weren't doing the trick. Using slip corks, bobber stops, and 1/4 oz. egg sinkers, I can suspend a minnow at the necessary depth. I don't like this rig, but it's the best solution I've come up with.
The new boat project is moving ahead slowly. Rapprunner came by last week and helped me test run the outboard--looks like a winner. The apparently-little-used TM, however, runs when it feels like it. We pulled it off the boat & it goes to the TM hospital later this morning. A pair of new tires and wheels should get me through this year & maybe next. Side rollers have been removed & bunks put back in their place. Final adjustments to the keel rollers should finish leveling things out. The maiden voyage later this week will reveal how many pumps & finders need replacement. I should have a working boat in time for spawning season!
Nice report and pics Corker. Hope to join you soon at LCR. Really enjoyed the one time that I've been there. Looks allot like Buggs but that deep clear water is allot diffrent for sure. Looks like you have the fish patterned pretty good at this time of year. Won't be too long and they should be on the move up the water collum.
