Default Zero crappie at Cahoon today

All I caught was one big ole nasty green carp. I mainly worked the channel but had absolutely no luck. Talked to two guys that were working the shallows with bobbers and all they caught was pike. An old timer told me he only had one pike and one green carp. Water temp was 41-43. According to my records this is my third trip to this lake and I have yet to catch my first crappie there. I made a bunch of videos with my side imaging and let me tell you, this lake's bottom is covered with trees, especially in the channel. I can't take snapshots when I'm recording but here's one from when I wasn't.

At first I got all excited thinking I had spotted a bunch of crappie off the bottom but it was just trees, and lots of them. Seems like they collect in the channel. I hardly marked any fish. As much structure as there is on the bottom I figure they were hiding up in it and didn't much feel like eating today. Oh well, there's always next weekend.

Hey Tap, When you get your new rig are you going to fish some of the local rivers or just use it for buggs?

Thanks for the photo tap. I now know what the ones looked like where I was snagging my slip rigs. Hang in there, I've seen the evidence. That place has some nice fish. Thanks for the report.

Buggs, rivers, and maybe even Back Bay. Gas is too expensive to go to Buggs every weekend so I'll be looking for some spots closer to home, especially in the summer.

Nice report, and those pictures are cool. I've never done very well in Cohoon.

hey tap i don't know how far you went back on the lake. this time of the year i start passed the R/R tunnel. we call it the back of the lake. in the back it looks like burnt mills. my biggest speck ever was caught fishing the creek channel in the back. even now the fish will be moving back. Don't give up on it JIM.B
