My wife gave me permission to get one of these
or something similar for fishing smaller lakes/streams if I have any funds left over from finishing the garage. There should be enough $ left over to get the canoe, TM, and battery. A 798 will be in the future.
I like a longer canoe for higher speed (review displacement hull theory for the reason why) and greater stability. Fifteen to sixteen feet would be really nice and provide sufficient space if a guest comes along. I also want one light enough (<100 pounds) so I can lift it and place it on racks for transport. I see tagging long with the retired crowd on some smallie trips in my future.
Feel free to suggest other manufacturers and models that meet my requirements for me to add to my list of possibilities.

I own a pelican it was made by colman. Its 16' long flat bottem, double hull, seats three. I can put a five hp outboard on it. Top speed around 8 smiles. You probaly saw it in a few of the bashes I went to. Out riggers are the ticket but I never had them. I could stand and cast out of mine. Very stable in the water except when a large boat gave me a wake. I put mine on a custom trailer as it is a bit heavy (132 lbs). Have it wired for a trolling mtr also.

For fishing smaller lakes and such.
Do you want car top or trailer?
Is it access that makes you want a canoe, ie no ramp?
A canoe is just plain flat out hard to fish out of. It is the wind. I will spinn you all over. In a river the current will help you out, but in a lake the wind will win.
Ever consider a kayak? I use the hobie with pedals, hands free, very stable, good exercise, very simple and the wind is not such a factor. Still a pain but managable. In the spring they have demo days where you can try different canoes and kayaks out. They are all very different. They have many set up just for fishing now. Kayaks with the troling motor right between your legs!!. Wild river outfitters in va beach has them on hand to look at, I think there is also a Appomatax place near Richmond/NN. There is a kayak angler mag out now.
I mostly kayak to avoid the ramp, and to go where boats cannot go.
We saw a canoe with a trolling motor rigged to it on LCR today. Man he was hauling butt. Doing a good 5 mph.
You know darn well you can get all of your rocket scientist's equipment to fit in a canoe.:D:D:D:D:D
" SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER"
I fished out of a 16' Chief square stern canoe that I got at Wilcox Bait and Tackle in Newport News. It had a 3hp motor on it. I fished the Suffolk lakes from it for 5 years. No outriggers and never came close to tipping. I could even stand up to go number 1.

hey pan had 16 ft on the lake in my back yard. boy what pain trying to fish in the wind. and by the way paddle from the pictures it looks like boat with training wheels
Pan ya should have built a 24' x 32' garage hell with a paddle boat ,,,besides wher ya gonna put it in your wifes garage yeah rite
I have a 16 foot 2 man kayak for sale cheap if ya want to try one out you could borrow it for awhile. That thing is like a rocket in the water even with my big butt in it. Only complaint is it is hard to steer but you could come up with some rudder system I would think. I wouldn't be selling it but my back cant handle stuff like that anymore. Consider a non powered boat = no taxes or registration fees! I wish I could afford one of those Hobie foot powered ones but I think the price tag is 2-3k depending on options.
I saw this and from memory it looked similar to what you posted
Like new - 1 man creek boat w/trailer, battery, seat, and paddle
