Thread: Hey CREX!

My family rode with Me down to the OBX today and along the way, We stopped by the super secret crappie/perch hole. The ramp was under water big time but there was also a big crane there and a sign that said the ramp would be closed from Oct 1st to Jan 1st. Apparently the state is loading barges there and will be using it for a while. I have a buddy who is a mechanic for the state that works that area and I will get the skinny from him on whats going on. You can still get there but You have to put over on the main river by the bridge and go to it that way.

Also on the way down, we drove down to Mashoes where the ramp to get in East Lake is. I could not make it to the ramp. I only made it a mile down the road before I ran into THE LAKE! It crossed over all the marsh and made it to the Croatan Sound! I also found out where everybody throws there dead deer carcasses! They had floated out onto the road and You had to dodge them suckers. Buzzards were everywhere. Turned around and headed back and went on to OBX. Wanted to check out Buffalo City too but I know half the road to it was under water too so I didn't even try it.

Made it to the beach road on the OBX and it was a mess. Bunch of houses got wiped out in Kitty Hawk. Dune Breaches all over the place. Still had a section of the beach road closed because of the lost houses, sand and water. HWY 12 south of Oregon inlet bridge is closed except for residents and businesses down south but restricted to 4WD as the road is buried and I think in some places breached around the South end of the bridge and Mirlo beach at Rodanthe. Gonna be a mess down there for a while. looks like it is gonna be a while before things get back straight to do some fishing down that way too. Looks like East lake will be first. CF

We should get together with pig strangler and go to east lake or the fishing center. I will look forward to the other spot in Jan. keep me posted on it.:D

Will do. We can do a double or triple whammy on East lake with the Swine Strangler. They were on in Pembroke before the storm. They were schooling cause the boy that owns the fishing center now caught around a hundred on Monday but could not get a bite Tuesday. They is schooling around and He was just casting jigs and not trolling. I hope I can get in there before We go back to picking beans and get a good meal out of it. I will keep You posted on all the spots. CF

I appreciate the inclusion, but by reading between the lines, looks like I'm being shut out from the real hot spot.

Now CF has a hard won reputation as being a total hiney, but I'm sorta surprised that Grinnelsaurus would do me like this

Hey CF. Did the Comfort Inn in Nags head fall into the ocean yet? My dad had racked up a few free nights for all the hotels he has used this year and gave them to me back in July. We stayed there not knowing that half the motel had already been claimed by the ocean. Me and my bro in law were taking bets on weather or not it would make in through the winter.

I don't think it did. That is the one that was sticking out a quarter of the way past the dunes back before the storm isn't it? I don't keep up with the names but I remember the building cause it has been like that since 04-05 when We were down there hammering the Rockfish out in front of it. I remember the big sandbags they had in front of it. Now We were on the beach just down from it Yesterday and it was still standing. I was down by The old Jennet's pier site where the state is building that monstrosity of a concrete pier. Worst places I saw for erosion and Overwash was down South Nags Head and Kitty Hawk. kitty Hawk lost more structures. CF
