First let me start with this disclaimer. I know this is a site about crappie fishing and it seems like all I ever report about is yellow perch. What can I say, it's been one of those years. Can't seem to stay on the crappie and the yellow perch seem to follow me around.
Went to Beaver dam on Thursday with hopes of bring home a nice mess of crappie. Was on the water at 9:00AM. Fished about an hour before I caught the first fish, a small ring perch. Caught a few more nice perch and finally a 9-1/2" crappie. Only ended up catching one more crappie the whole day. Fished water from 5' to 20' and caught bass, brim, perch and pickerel but no more crappie. Mainly fished from the boat landing area to the dam, did not go to the upper end. Ended the day with about 10 bass, a couple of brim, 2 crappies, 4 pickerel (had several more break off) 10 ring perch. Only kept 5 of the perch all between 11-3/4" to 13-1/4 inches long, 3 lenght citations. Most fish were caught on minnows fished near the bottom in 12' to 16' of water moving real slow when the wind would allow. Allot of the grass has died back but is still thich in the shallow water. Maybe the crappie were hiding out there.
Overall a fun day on the water. Only bad news for me was near the end of the day my landing net fell in the water and sank before I could reach it. I've had that net for 23 years and feel like I lost a friend. Kinda silly but true. If anyone goes and happens to catch it I sure would like to get it back
Hopefully my next trip I can report better results on the crappie.

"Fletch had a catch of a lifetime and he was even standing up when he caught it!"
You are a yellow perch "Magnet"!! Good job on the fish:D,sorry about the net!![]()
Roy what are the colors in your GB hat and what are the colors of a "yellow" perch......yellow and green. That hat could be the perch magnet. I think were on to something here. Explains why Tap Out is not catching any crappie..he's wearing a yellow and black Steeler cap.
Nice fish but you stay away from my perch at BD. Keith is still in stock of the invasion of this pond.
Did you catch them wear I think you did?
" SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER"
Nice report and picture. I've fished DB many times (always minnows) and don't think I've ever caught one ring perch.
Life's too short to fish with dead minnows!
roy roy roy you are a perch magician:D:D thats awsome !!!!!!!!
Roy, you keep up with those perch reports and the yellow perch are not going to be the only thing following You around. A shadow in the form of CREX will be lurking You too.:DCF
Hater of Woodsgoats.
2011 NWR Bash Yellow Perch Champion
Percidae Papermouth, enjoy the trophy. It will see NC again.
You all might be on to something about the hat colors being the magnet. If that's the case what kinda fish does Shoer attract with his purple and yellow fetish?
Doodlum, yes I caught them where you think I did. :D
Hopefully will be out again somewhere on Monday.

Nice catch Roy. You need to go to Indiantown one day if you have never been.:D
I've never been to Indiantown before. Would like to make the trip with someone who has been there before. Same thing with some of the other places around here like Little Creek or Abel or Diasunds? The list goes on. I'm willing to share what little I know about Buggs or some other spots. Would like to arrange more trips with people on this board. So far I've only been with Corker and Doodlum at Beaverdam. Thanks again! Need to get back together to now share some of my spots with them.
