Comparatively speaking . . .
H E L P ! !
I've been really studying the Google Maps of the Osborne Landing area (the Zoom-in feature is sooo cool!), and I must confess . . . after we launch my boat, I don't know which way to go first! All of this water, from the 895 bridge, down past the I-295 Bridge looks so promising. I could even travel farther from the ramp if necessary (my boat has a 75 HP Merc and can cruise @ 35MPH) and a 24 gallon tank! I like the looks of the big bends and feeder streams south of I-295 too, but haven't a clue where to begin.
If one of you "Gurus of the James" could provide me and my partner with a basic game plan, I'd truly appreciate it.
Thanx in advance, and see ya Sunday,
Cal
Um....wouldn't we need a Guru? Just where in the Heck are we gonna get one of those?
The most fun thing might be to never start you motor. Use trolling motor to leave ramp and go 100 yards to puplic fishing pier. Shoot the pier with jigs and minnows and watch the faces of the pier guys! They are casting out 50yds and watching their catfish baits get washed down stream. They can't access the cross members right under their feet. It would make for some good video.
If you don't have a game plan by sunday morning, someone will give you some hints. Best I can tell, Slab and Flash will dissappear and the rest of us will fish the same structure. The rest of us locals all fish the same couple of spots. I guess we can tie off to each other or take a number. The slack tide we have first thing will make for some easy exploring of all the structure you see.

Check your PM's. I'll send you a few spots that I probably won't be trying.
Cal,
If you have time check in with Castaway's in Chester: Castaway Sporting Goods
. They will give you good information if they have it and they normally do! Talk to Kenny if he's there, he usually has them nailed pretty good. There will be plenty of "advice" at the ramp, also!!! I can't fish this Sunday, so I don't mind sharing this with you. Also look at the area with MSN Live Maps, Bird's Eye View, it's pretty awesome. I haven't used Google Maps since I began using MSN Live Maps.
Don't outsmart your common sense!
Jack
Don't think Cal is coming to our side of the river. Besides, Castaways only knows what I tell them! (kidding).
Cal, and others, get a James river map and bring with you for us to mark for ya on Sunday. We will share what we know. Hard to pm the pics/maps and I'm not gonna post it on the net.

Dangit Mike, either I have a sick sense of humor or that is funny as heck.
Cal, with friends like these, who needs enemies?:D:D:D Dang that was good!
Be careful giving out top speed/fuel capacity or one of the "gurus" will send you halfway to the CBBT.
Dont fergit to bring Spot.

I got your PM last night, and since I guess we're not gonna hook up on this outing, I gotta ask ya now . . . Who and/or what the heck is "Spot"?
Am I missing something here???Enlighten me!
Cal
When are you gonna tell him, Jeff. I remember the commercials!
Don't outsmart your common sense!
Jack
Oh heck, I thought I had already been givin ya the buziness about Cal & ol Spot. Listen carefully at the very beginning.:D

One of the funny parts about all the Cal Worthington commercials in their day was that there was NEVER a dog included in a commercial, it was always any other animal THAN a dog, and it was invariably introduced as "his dog Spot."
The other trademark to a Cal Worthington commercial was Cal & all his salesmen wore white hats-the "good guy" thing. :D
His dealerships started in California and expanded along the west coast of the U.S. and into Alaska eventually. I first ran into the ads in 1980 in AZ.
The ads were so widely broadcast in the west that everyone knew about
"Cal & his dog Spot." I had bought a solid black horse at the time and kept it at a huge stable in Phx that I did alotta work at, I named him Spot because of the ads and had him well-trained that when I whistled he knew I had a treat for him and came running. It was a riding stable situated in the mts and on occasion the owner would be short a hand and ask me to take out a ride.
It was fun to say lemme toss a saddle on my dog Spot and holler out "C'mon Spot, here boy" and he'd come a runnin. :D Big community corral, bout 160 horses in it, and heres this 1 horse haulin a$$, responding to "Here Spot."

but I lived on the right half of the continent at the time!
Of course, I don't remember a whole lot of the period between June '66 (graduate HS) and December '82 (gettin' married).Actually, I don't remember a whole lot about the wedding, come to think of it
. . ., but that's a story for another forum! :D
Thanx for clearin' that up for me!!
Cal (not Worthington!)
