Default James is shaping up and clearing good

put in at OL bout 10:15 near a low tide water was clearing from what I saw yesterday...well steering felt a little tight ,,,headed out into main river turned to the left and throttled up OH NO steering stuck ....I managed to break spider gear in the steering box trying to turn right cut throttle back deployed trolling motor loaded boat said a bunch of non-religious gestures and brought the Lowe back to the shop jerked steering cable out (little more to it than that) went to southeastern marine got new one to be here at 9:00a.m. went ahead and ordered throttle and gear linkages and new steering box as well being all is 20 years old ....so 500.00 in parts only since last outing including carb kits and a few other odd and ends,,, glad I can work on my own stuff.......

It sure is exspensive being a poor old redneck with so many Hobbies .......
I am glad all this happened before the bash I GUESS I AM .......I'LL be back Promise looks like a good day to have some golden beverages and clean up the tool box a bit........PEACE

The Lowe has been pretty tough on you lately! Glad you got out of it OK. Was there still a lot of grass floating around?

Dang Slab, get r done! Did you pull a rope thru when you pulled her out? I had to fight mine with I changed them (2). I had good luck with pulling a rope, then used that to pull a piece of plastic water line (from meter to house) thru the gunnel. The new steering cable slid thru easily and didn't hang on any wiring.

    At least you got back!

Biggest thing is the boat wass built well and the cable was strapped in real well and also put in before the top half of the boat went together and all the other wiring was strapped to it with tye wraps...the whole perimeter of the boat is lined with styrofoam and I didn't want to break it up to bad.....I got new straps in place and a raceway ready for the new stuff ,,,need to hone out the old tube that the end goes through at the motor and should be ok...still havent run it since carb job more than hundred yards from the ramp...

She will be fine I think...... just been a very used boat and needs more than average maintenance due to its age ...
