Default motor trouble

where is the fuel pump screen on a 40hp mercury outboard. my original fuel line innner liner looks like it degraded and flaked off. i have since replaced it with a "alcohol" fuel line. i was told it may be the screen is clogged. Thanks

I have a 1999 40 hp 2 stroke mercury engine. Mine just has a fuel filter a few inches from the fuel pump close to the carbs.

That fuel pump doesn't have a screen type filter. Usually they install an inline filter. It would be located near the fuel pump like Fishman78 said.
