Default Pembroke 8/24

Jackpot! crappie finally got rid of their funk and started cooperating. My day ended early due to a shear pin breaking on my TM but i started fishing at 1 and had to quit at 3. I fished 3 brushpiles and had 13 crappie, all 11 and 12 inches long. was moving to the next spot when prop started raising hell. Would have limited out easy today with some nice fish but I have a good enough mess for my crowd. Can't wait for those golden fillets. Brush in 6 to 8 feet of water. i was fishing a 1/16th ounce jig green/chart about 4 to 5 feet deep over brush. They were hitting really lite today but I could still feel them on my BnM sharp shooter rod. Set the hook and watch the rod bend double with a slab. The fought hard today too.

Also, White perch are biting like there is no tomorrow right now. Catching them in 3 feet and shallower right now. Good keeping size. Also a buddy of mine caught two nice black drum not 25 yards from my favorite crappie spot. Water is REAL salty now. I caught more crappie back up the creek than towards the mouth. Don't know if it is because of salt water or what but I still caught them out there where the water is salty. They are catching flounder mixed in too out towards the bay. I have all my trolling gear on the Crappie combine and think I will strip it all off now that the brush bite is back on. the perch are being caught on beetlespins tipped with shrimp and are hitting every single cast. I saw a cooler today packed full with so many perch that the lid would hardly shut. Big cooler too. Have not seen that in a long time.CF

Sounds like a great day. I sheared my TM pin a while back but fortunately had a spare.

Way to go Ed, sounds like you hit paydirt. Perfect eating size IMO. I was at WalMart less than 2 wks ago and just happened to see a MinnKota prop pin kit for my TM, has 2 pins and 2 wing nuts ea, think it was $7, I'm sorry about yur troubles but made me glad I got it. I always keep a spare prop on board but lotta good it (or yur one on the TM) is should you shear a pin.
Sounds like big fun, I love casting and feeling the bite & hook-up. Glad ya got into em.
Green, huh?!!!!

Rt 17 to Edenton. You need a NC license. Yearly for out of state is $30. I don't know what daily is as I always get yearly. Use to get the sportsman license for $90 back in my deer huntin days. Thats why Ed is overwhelmed with deer now. Cause I quit huntin deer. They use to sell minnows at the ramp but don't know if they still do.

I had a kit for my old TM but never needed it. this one has 20 more pounds to it though. Little more torque on the pins I guess. I don't fish much up in water shallow enough to dredge the bottom or hit stumps. Mostly out in open water. Just puzzling cause my old motor went through mass bass fishing days and it was not a bass trip if ya didn't bow the shaft on a stump and stop like your slamming on brakes.CF

So that is what happened down here with the deer. yes they still sell minnows at Pembroke Fishing center. They do sell out from time to time though. They always get a new shipment in on wed. afternoons and usually holds them till Sat. afternoon in the busy crappie season here (winter). CF

Bill pretty much summed it up pretty good. If you fish out in Edenton Bay then you need the saltwater license too though. Temporary license are 10 dollars for 5 days for in state. don't know what out of state would be but you can go to N.C. Wildlife's website and get it all on line. You might want to get a digest for creel and size limits down here too. I think most limits are similar to Virginy but we got some weird stuff down here sometimes. CF
