Son and I got to the launch about sunup. Some guy named George was already there with his game face on.
Fished for striper for the first 1.5 hrs or so. I caught one on a shad rap. Too small to keep. (20") on Norfolk lakes. The water had cooled off about 5° from the rain yesterday, so I figured the striper would be more active, but it was not to be.
Started bait fishing, worms/minnows, and caught a decent mess of crackers and brim. Caught the obligate gar on a minnow, and a good sized catfish.
Bite slacked off, so we trolled bottom bouncers/crawler harnesses in search of perch. (yellow or white) I caught one nice white perch and another striper, and Josh caught....a....crappie? Go figure. On bottom w/nightcrawler in 17' + of water. Left about 1. Ended up keeping about a dozen decent cracker/bream and the one white perch, and the catfish pictured below.
Hopefully Tap will weigh in with his report later. Not a bad day really.
