Default Fredericksburg crappie ?

I have a friend that just moved to Fredericksburg Va. and as I drove there I noticed a sigh pointing to lake Anna state park, indicating that Lake Anna is close, anyone here in that area know of other good lakes, or is lake anna the spot he should be focusing on for crappie.

Thanks

I've never fished there but I have heard that Lake Anna is suppose to be very good for crappie fishing. In fact the Jan issue of Virginia Game and Fish has an article about it.

Beat me to it Bill. Great minds think alike. Besides that article all the atention Virginia gets as far as crappie cotains one of two things, the words Kerr or Anna. Look at the "where to fish section" on the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries website. The 2003 Biologists section under lake Anna is interesting. Also on the site the one place it states that a good number of crappie come from is the Christopher Run area of the North Anna arm.

I fished Lake Anna about 10 years ago with a guide named Chris McCotter. We were bass fishing, (don't tell anyone) but he guided for crappie also and said it was good.
He is now a writer as I've seen his articles in "Woods and Waters". He would be a good source of info. for your friend.
