Got up and decided to head over to Lake Gilmer to do a little crappie fishing this morning. I really kind of got a late start and did not get onto the water until around 10am. Crappie were kind of slow on spider rigs but I also got into the bass pretty thick so it kept me busy for much of the day. I only caught two keepers out of about a dozen crappie but they were gooduns the biggest went 14 inches at 1.6lbs per my portable scale and the other was about 13 inches (I didn't weight that one). I tried some of the timber techniques that I saw on Jerry's video but I did not have much success with the jigs as I did with the minnows.
