Default People around here freaking out about Gustav

Can't believe they are already given a mandatory evacuation of Orange/Beaumont area. That is 90 miles South of me, but people up here are going nuts!

Ya reckon the powers that be in D.C. made a few phone calls to say like the LA gov, Nagan, etc..., and said under NO circumstances can we afford to have an encore of Katrina?

Actually if it follows the path they are showing now it will come within 20-30 miles of my house. Rita killed us here and just hope this one keep on the East side of me and just a little rain and not too much wind. We lost a ton of trees to Rita and went 11 days without power and 7 without water. Filled up a big old tub for flushing water and going to do that again.

Got my truck full and boat 1/2 full and 6- 5 gallon cans full for the generator.

I am going to be tying for sure unless we lose power and then I may still be doing some. I have about 25 jigs and 60 Roadrunners to do now and more coming.

Do you really want 20 of them jigs? If so what size?

It's good to be busy for sure.

    Thanks,

Being told now we are to get 48 hours of torrential rains and flooding. Massive power outages.

Not looking good and projected right over my house now.

I was on the water today with a man who works at the Target Dist Center and he was getting calls all day about their stores shutting down today in anticipation of Gustav. Pretty much anything south of I-10 is shut down. I understand the concern after the history of Rita and Katrina but right now it is still a crap shoot as to where it will hit. I guess it's better safe than sorry.

Yeah that is for sure. I have lived most of my 60 years on or very near the coast and been through my share starting way back in about 59 or 6 can't remember which with Carla and Audry both hit Orange where I live a good amount of that time. Also lived 11 years across the bay from Corpus and that has had it's share as well.

Once I moved up here to T-Bend I thought this was far enough inland to not worry much until Rita came for a visit. Wow what a visit that was. She stopped with the eye 15 miles SW of my hours for 2 hors before slowly moving on. Heard more tornado's in that one than all the rest of my life, not to mention that it was still a Cat 2 when it got up here.

So after that is is definitely better safe than sorry, LOL!

We got very lucky with this one and only have down limbs and wind with some rain, but not near what was expected thank goodness!

Yes we squeaked through this one without hardly anything. At lunch the center was on top of Shreveport and just looked and it looks like it's northeast of Texarkana. Looks like even the possibility of going fishing this weekend!
