Default How to get around gar when fishing for crappie

I have this spot near a dam where I normally do my evening fishing for crappie now that summer is hear the spotted gar are in there spawning. I am catching quality crappie out of there but I cant seem to avoid the gar. Its getting to the point where it is not worth it.
