Welp on any lake its important to find/make brush piles to catch crappie...
To answer your question I've never boated that lake so I can't help other than giving advise you find the brush....
Hope everyone's having a great Thanksgiving! I've been lurking around a few forums and can't find a whole lot of info - anyone having luck finding crappie on Lake Gilmer? I've been told if you can't find the brushpiles it's gonna be slow going. Appreciate the feedback!

Sorry also do not know the lake, but silentkilla gave good info.
I will also add this, winter crappie are going to be deep, again I don't know the lake, but here they are going to even 40' down maybe in January! Spring spawn they will get on the bank on beds, but most of them will hang out in water 6' to 8' deep from Feb through May. I use stumps and the Hydrilla to fish them at this time. Summer they go deep, but not as deep as winter and you need brush piles on drop-offs and creeks.

I'll see if I can get out there and take a look around. I've been hunting for a topo map also without much success. The lake has great bass and bluegill fishing, hoping we can turn on to some crappie also!
Don’t know that lake but if it holds bass and gills it’s likely got good crappie , if it has a long creek coming into it you might try up in it , the shad might take a winter run up it .....and deep water would be my next guess out along its dam on old Laydowns and structures if 20 or deeper water
