Thread: Rayburn 8/7/09

I don't think I'll ever screw up and put out any more Molasses Blocks. I got into the biggest mess of catfish. GRRR.
I did get to look at all the bridge pilings on the 147 bridge today. Found several brush piles. I did some trolling (pushing) and didn't get into the Crappie. I managed two green carp that upset the apple cart, they tangled everything fast, I fillet them for my son in Missouri just to get back at them for making me cut lines.
I caught several catfish off my favorite hole then I dragged the block over to another stump way away from where I had it hanging. I moved to another hole and caught a couple keeper Crappie but everywhere I went the dinks were hitting. I fattened then up with a half a pound of minners. Only thing hitting my jigs today was them bass.
Gonna take the wife and son tomorrow. Got to get a mess of fish for the son in Missouri. They gonna have have another youngun the 27th of Aug so we will be there for a couple weeks helping out. Ferdi aka Fred

Good report Ferdi, this must be the year of the catfish on Rayburn. As you can see I did not make it there. I hope I will make it soon.

Well when i take you to fish the jig you are going to have to show me some of these catfish places since i have been trying to catch them and can not seem to locate them. When you get back from Missouri let me know and we will make a trip

Took the Mrs. today. Had to show off my new elecronics. She was impressed with all that stuff, marks and pretty colors and all them numbers on the side WOW... Will it help us catch more fish??? Eventually says me.. And then it happened, a submerged stump and we went over it on the right pontoon and when we came off the stump the picture wasn't right and we were in zero feet of water. I got us to another fishing hole and tied up and while she was fishing I walked back to inspect the damage. "Well Thank You Lord" the transducer was up in the air and off to one side just a little. I pushed it back down and it worked okay then. When I trailered the boat I bent the bracket on the pontoon back over a little and all is well. I throwed away my drawers and bibs cause the stain will never come out.
Fishing report: had fun, fed the little ones all day, two in the livewell. Trying to get my heart to settle down so I'm staying off the water for a few days. Ferdi aka Fred
