    Thumbs up Rayburn again

Went out to play with the new 997c H-Bird today and see what I've been missing so I only took 2 dozen minnows. Thought I'd put out some molasses blocks too while I was at it. I dropped a block on the first brush pile and put some lines in the water. Got one bite. Decided to go to another spot and drop a block but I did a little looking on the way. I am impressed with the bird. I seen lots of breaks, points, and ridges and drop offs that hadn't been baited with brush yet. Got to the second spot and tied a block to a tree thyis time. Put some lines out and they turned on. I kept these 11 and had at least that many throw backs including a small catfish and a nice size green carp. I ran out of minnows and I still can't figger out this jigging yet so I went looking some more. My transducer for the 332c is on it's way again so I'll use it for the trolling motor if I have problems getting back on things. I think I'm going to have fun with this new set up.
I was catching the Crappie at 12' in 17-21' of water. The water temp is a cool 83-85 degrees thanks to the rain we have been having. Didn't raise the lake much, still right at 3' below normal. Gonna go again when the transducer gets here either tomorrow or Wednesday and see how I do hovering around a brush pile, you can bet it will be away from stumps that eat transducers. That is one big ole honking puck for the H-Bird, got it set right first time cause things look good traveling and no rooster tail.
Grass is a lot greener from the rain isn't it?

Nice catch. You need to get that jig figured out you would have caught twice this many.

Ferdi, tell me about the molasses blocks. Are these the molasses cattle blocks. Had not heard of using these for baiting.

Joe that SI unit is high class all the way. Me and Quicksilver sunk two big ole cedar trees at LOP Saturday afternoon so his SI unit made it real nice scouting out a good place for them. I have another one ready to go out in the next week or so. Of course we will have to try out the new pile when we get out there.

Tell them at the feed store what you want them for because I guess they make two kinds of blocks and one isn't a good one to put out. I use those mess bags and cut the blocks in half and either hang them on a tree or just sink them with bricks. Sometimes they bring in cat's too and if this is a problem don't use block on that hole.
