Default Lake Grapevine - Twin Coves

I'm trying to inner tube fish the twin coves area. I am told this is a great crappie spot but I need a little more direction. You can email me directly if you want

Hey Sid nice to hear from you and welcome to the Texas board. I'm sorry but there are not a lot of folks from DFW posting on this board like there should be. When you start catching some post em up here so we can see.

Good luck and tight lines.

Oh also just thought about it PM Earnest Paty I know he has fished Lewisville in CAT tournaments (Crappie Anglers of Texas).

Sid

I fish this area on a fairly regular basis. I havent tried crappie there yet as I am usually chasing bass. However due to the terrain in this area I am betting that its off the chain during the spawn and probably pretty good year round. I am actually considering trying this area out though after hearing some rumors of a good bite being under way. There are a number of very likely spots which I am betting are very productive in the cove.

There are a lot of tree stumps in this area but I havent found them to be overly productive as far as fish go. Now there are several rock piles along the bank that are substantial in size and in several places the water drops off to 15-25 feet pretty quickly. Its these areas that I have found to be pretty productive and found concentrations of fish stacked up on them. I have pulled a lot of dink bass from these areas but havent determined if the fish down deeper are crappie or bass or both. There are a ton of Gar in this area as well, so expec to tangle with several!

There are also a lot of snakes in this water too, enough that I carry a 22 pistol loaded with rat shot when I got my Kayak out there, so keep your situational awareness knob turned up all the way...
