Default I bought a new to me boat!! Now...help with lake conroe????

I now am the proud owner a 1984 20 ft Champion duel console fishing machine...it is in unbelievable shape and I have looked for two months and I am pleased as I can be.

Since I no longer fish from the bank and Lake Conroe is 18 minutes from my front door, I want to re-aquaint myself to the lake I learned to fish on in the late 70s.

1) 1097 bridge??? - Is this a good place to start????
2) What about "shooting "the deeper water boat docks on the lake??
3) Do any of the GPS maps provide actual brush piles to try and fish??
4) I know they are "TRASH" fish but can white bass still be found on Conroe. I figure with Summer in full force they should be schooling.
5) I want to take my little girl blue gill fishing and I hear they have some whoppers...Any ideas where to start???

Thanks in advance and I just want to say that now I have made the committment to become a good crappie fisherman ( lifetime bass fisherman), THIS SITE IS AN AWESOME RESOURCE, and I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who post and help us lesser informed.....mark

crappie should be all over right now all depths until the thermocline sets in. try powerline poles in 17 to 22 ft for bream and a mess of channel cats. not too many docks to shoot on conroe that are deep enough. white are in the 17 -22 where i have been catching them. try main lake points and humps for them early in the mornings. good luck

Best advice to give, which was given to me a few years back, fill up the boat, take depth finder and gps system, and stroll around all day concentrating around points. You will find plenty of brush piles to fish. Just be sure and mark them. I did this last spring, and now I got about 50 places to fish, that is, when the wind will allow.
