I'm kind of new to the area and was wanting to get the boat into the water. Problem is no one to fish with although 25 limit isnt that bad but pulling 50 out is better.

Is the crappie fishing good at sommerville? If so what depths of water and how deep.(ie 20 ft 12 ft down) do the fish stay on the main lake points or off the main lake? thanks

Hope ya dont mind me buddin in. Somerville was my home lake from '90-'02.
I can tell you that Somerville was a very good crappie lake the whole time I was there. I did most of my fishing over brushpiles but the rock ledge leading into White Bass Pass, trees off Deer Island, and docks all put out fish too.
The cove in between Rocky Creek Park and Deer Island had plenty of brush and Pecan Lake was loaded with it. The defunct boat ramp off the end of Yegua Creek Park had brush around it. I caught 2 17+"ers there one day, my 2 biggest slabs while in TX. The No Wake buoys near the ramps generally had brush on or near them. I don't know if B & C Short Stop is still at the crossroads there near the entrance to Rocky Creek Park, if it is and Bill Wolverton still runs it he is an avid slab fisherman and will up some info if asked properly. I caught fish for the most part in about 12-18 ft sometimes some shallower or deeper and they might be close to the surface or anywhere down from there. I put alotta trees out to the left of the 1st ramp
(the one to the left as you enter RC Park), others did also. I used to leave the ramp go to the left just a little ways, and get in 13-16 ft of water and line up where the grass started for the tent camping area there on shore.
