Found a few crappie before the jet ski's and ski boats took over. Found them 23' deep on brushpiles. Bites felt "mushy". Used tubes on 1/8 oz. jigheads with crappie nibbles injected into the tube.

Your at the majic depth. Thats where I have been catching them on Tyler 22-23. Didnt get out this morning, I was having a new roof put on from the hail damage back when.I figured with S 8 and cloud cover all day, they would be killing it. Thanks for the report

Thats a great Crappie lake you've got there Dave but I bet those Jet skis do take over this time of year. Whats the limit on 'em now? Thanks for the report and your help last winter. Don

I've gone to a 1/4 oz bucktail jig for deep brush. I can feel the 1/8head down to
about 15 feet, deeper than that I need more wieght.

1/8 is the heaviest I've used. Bites almost always occur on the drop after an occasional 6" lift. But the next larger sizes could work; will have to get some and give it a try. Never tried 2 or 3 inch tubes either, but have heard on this board that they catch the bigger ones. Thanks for the idea.

1/4oz Jigs with crappie hooks are hard to find locally, that is why I started tying my
own jigs. They have really improved my brushpile fishing.
