Anyway we had a good time, maybe next trip we might try a little shallower and see what happens, what do you ET guys think. oh and the lake is on the rise, with 70 degree water temp.

Crappie sometimes will hold some or part of their eggs for several reasons. It can be weather, water temp, fronts , they may have been caught and released, a bass or carp may have destroyed their nest, and for whatever reason they moved off to deeper water. I catch crappie as well in deeper water this time of year, and thay still have a few eggs in them. Some of them are mushy, which tells me they abandoned the spawn for whatever reason. With the weather as crazy as it was this year, I can see the fish are even confused. There has been so many fisherman who have been saying for 6-8 weeks " is the spawn over? " I would say there are a few spawners left around, but I would seek out some cover in 15-22 foot of water right now. The post spawn is on most lakes and its made for some excellent crappie fishing. Good luck
