Default Medina Lake Report

Caught 21 keepers, threw a bunch of small and white/hybids back. Fish were caught after the sun when down off of minnows in 50' of water anywhere from the bottom to 30'. Had one light in the water to attract baitfish.

Was out there Saturday night as well. Got off the lake about 10:00PM. Fished around the Skunk Hollow area with Minnows in about 36' of water. Between the two boats we caught about 19 keepers....Got one keeper at Sawmill before the sun went down..What area did you fish??

D'hanis, are there many lighted docks on the lake at night? Are there many docks at all, say for shooting docks during the day?

Fished the bank before Sawmill Cove. We dind't catch anything till the sun went down.

There are lots of lit docks. Just cruise by them with your graph on and look for brushpiles/cover. Lights + Brush hold fish. I never fish shallower than 20'. Just watch your graph for fish.

Minnows always work.

I normally fish Sawmill as well but one of my partners wanted to try out some new brush piles that he found. I have an side imaging unit and will check out Sawmill with it soon and post the pics as well as some other areas of Medina. Gas prices are keeping me away from Choke right now\

I would love to see your pics with the side imaging. Once I get my boat rebuilt a humminbird is on my list of things to get.

When the lake was down there was a huge brushpile somebody built. It was past sawmill a mile or so and was on the right. It was right on a little ledge. This thing was a massive pile that someone was building with brush while the lake was down. I never got out of my boat to walk up the bank to GPS it. I regret that.

I tried to find it with my LOWR X135 but the lake is full and the area is too big. When the lake comes back down I will be looking for it again.

I haven't had too much luck on Choke for crappie lately. I can catch the hell out of some cats but the crappie have eluded me. I live closer to Medina and I know I can catch crappie there so that's where I fish most of the time.

We'll be there again Sat night.

Joe

Will let you know when I get a chance to get out image the sawmill area. If you can provide me with a little more detail on the area where the brush was laid out I can try to find it and provide you with a SI image and the coordinates. Hope you get into them on Saturday. I'm getting the house painted this weekend so I have to hang around here. Post a report when you get a chance.

I don't know of any local lakes with crappies that you can get to in a 12 foot boat. At Medina the spots I go to you would have to cross open water which can get a little testy in the wind. I can only think of Choke with the launch at the Hwy 99 bridge or the drop offs right off of Caliham point.
