Default OT: still the best way around Dallas?

Will be leaving from Meridian MS soon to Albuquerque and was wondering the best way around Dallas. 5-6 years ago the welcome center lady sent me this way, don't know if it is still best. I-20 to Exit 499A at Terrel, Hwy 80 to Exit 6A-B, don't know which is north to Denton, I 635 north to Exit 27B on I 35E to Exit 469 Hwy 380. From there we will be going to Hwy 287 at Decatur to I 40 in Amarillo. We will be spending the night at Sheppard AF Base in Wichita Falls. Does this still sound best

I'm not sure if it's the best way. We always go through downtown (I-30) and head up Northwest from Reunion Arena (It get real confusing at this point and I really am not familiar with the roads at this junction as there are many). 635 usually has some construction on it and if you can time when you get to Dallas you can avoid rush hour traffic (mid-day or late evening is best) or you will be in bumper to bumper traffic. Seeing how you have already gone that way I would advise you to go that way again to avoid delays from getting lost downtown.
