Thread: foot 4-17-09

Well guys I gave it a try today and didn't do anygood. To start off with I have been bad sick for the past three days ( flu I think). I got on the water around 7:30 it was already rolling!!! i went across the lake towards donaldson ditch and fished were everyone was at trying to stay out of the wind. I caught several stripes but NO crappie. If I had felt a little better I might have stayed and tried several different spots but I could not stop coughing!! I really should have not went but just had to try it. If any of you were out there how did you do? The water temp was 55.

Wow Lynn your a die hard thats for sure! i HOPE YOU GET TO FEELING BETTER !! I had no choice but to spend it indoors today. I think west tenn. was out there today but dont no for sure) Heck i no fishing has been tuff scatterd! I'am going to try and fish the next week and play out the storms,but that new fish scaler did come in and me and the UPS feller had to check it out wright away! Up to 50 fish @ a time heck, i dont catch but 3 a trip :} We,ll will see! RFY

I fished today Lynn.

Caught 3 very big fish ont he North end this morning the first hour and then I never got a bite the next. Caught the biggest crappie I ahve ever seen in Allen opening and it literaly jumped out of my net. My vocabulary got real interesting for a few mintues after that. Some of my equipment "got wet" including said net and the pole. Some of my tackle got kicked around. Couple things broke and will never recover. I dumped all the minnows out. You should have seen the guys fishing next to me. They didnt say a word untill after my explosion was over. Then the one guy said "that was the biggest crappie I have ever seen." That brought a few more choice words out of my mouth. Literaly the crappie you fish your whole life for. It wasnt as if it just got off at the top of the water like most do. I had it on the line for a good two mintues trying to untangle the chain rope from the net and actualy netted the fish. Its difficult to get a crappie probably close to 4lbs in the boat when you are unprepaired. This will haunt me for many years to come. I caught a few more after that with a crappie nibble. Hit some trees and caught a couple plus 3 big gills. Brought home 11 plus the gills. home by 2:30. I still feel sick over losing that fish. Just another "fish stroy" now........Hope you get to feeling better. I decided now I am staying home this weekend to recover from this tragedy. may never fish again....:D

sorry to hear about that big crappie .I know how you feel . one year I was salmon fishing, lost the only 2 fish I hook after 4 hour of casting.( i broke my 12 lb test) I recoup by going out and buy all new line and lure.went back out the next seven day trying to catch that sucker again and finally after 7 day I landed the 36 lb er, this time on 17lb test. true die hard just bitch we never quit...... You know you'll be back on the water next week ,way before your hand started to itch.

Thanks guys!!! John I like to see that fish scaler working it really sounds cool!!!! And it must be if the UPS guy stayed long enough to check it out!!They are always in a hurry!LOL:D Justin I'm sorry you lost such a good fish man that sucks.I know when Shelby (my daughter) caught that big 2.5lb last year I was sweating bullets trying to get it in the net. My daughter never broke a sweat! LOL I do feel better this morning my head is not stopped up and I can hear! Thanks GOD!!! It was driving me nuts having to ask everyone repeat what they were saying. I'm still coughing a lot!!! I hope the weather will ease up and stay warm for us all. If I do any fishing for the next couple of weeks it will have to be in the afternoon. I'll be opening up everyday and on 6 days at work. I have a co worker Steve Riggs who is going to the Mayo clinic in Minn. for test on his Kidneys. So if you all will Pray for him.
