Well, it was a beautiful day on Old Hickory. I fished in Cedar Creek for most of the day. I caught about 25 crappie with 13 keepers. Also caught a bunch of yellows and a few rockbass.
I started the morning in about 13-15 feet of water and I was catching them suspended at 8-10ft. The water temp was 56 when I put in at the ramp. I caught all of the fish in deeper water on kentucky rigged minnows.
As the day progressed and the water warmed, I followed the fish shallower and caught several in 8-10 ft. Most of these came on slip bobber and either single jig or jig tipped with minnow.
Finally later in the afternoon the water temp reached 58 in the shallower water and I hit the docks and caught most of my fish for the day off of docks in 6ft of water or less. Almost all of them came on minnows with a slip bobber set at about 3 ft. I think most of these were males that were scouting out some bedding. It was one of the best days I've had crappie fishing on Old Hickory and one that I hope to repeat many times in the future. Still haven't gotten a limit, but it was a lot of fun!
Here's a pic of the crappie and a few yellows that got to go for a truck ride.
