Default The Spawn On Old Hickory

When do you guys think they will start? When I was out there Wed 8, 09 I saw several boats fishing the shallows, so I ask a couple guys who were bobber fishing in the shallows on the north side if they were catching any and they said that they were shallow, so I tried for a little while and caught nothing. All the crappie I have been putting in the boat have come out of nothing less than 13ft and most have been in 17.5ft. I think the water temp still needs to come up a lot more at least to a steady 60° across the whole lake for them to really move in shallow. What do you guys think?

Mudbug that was I was thinking, if we can get some relief from these cold fronts and all the wind and downpours we should be able to get into them in the shallows.

They've already started spawning. I was catching a few right on the bank two weeks ago. But by and large, right now they are scattered. Right now would be a good time to spider rig the flats.

They have been trying for the past three week's, we have cought over a hundred keepers the last month and a half, 90% have come out of a foot and a half to three foot of water. Most have been full of egg's. The bigest thing going on right now is the fluxuation of the water level. They wont really turn on untill the water stabilizes and stays a constant temp.
