Thread: Cedar Creek 04/09/2009

My Dad went out to Cedar Creek this morning and hooked this one measuring at about 15 1/2 inches and 2 pounds. Caught it trolling with a minnow in about 12 feet of water. We are fairly new to the crappie world and cant seem to catch more than two or three at a time. Can anyone give some suggestions on getting more in the boat in one outing?

That is a fat slab crappie you got there, I fish out of Shutes Branch and like you here recently I have only been able to put 4 to 7 in the boat in a day. The only advice I can give you is that I catch the most crappie this time of the year in 18ft down to 12ft drop shoting with a minnow on the trees.

get u some pearl white tube jigs and hit the docks that are in 8 to 10ft of water.minnows are good sometimes but jigs are better i think.last sunday my partner and i caught 10 and only one came on a minnow.try the jigs and see what happens.another good color is yellow or chartruse and if u want the odd ball that kills em pm me

Same here on the 5-10 a trip. Went yesterday on OH and brought home 8. Seemed scattered to me.

that is one nice fish firescrambler, the best advice i could give is to watch what some of the guys fishing on douglas and cherokee do and report in their posts. i have watched and tried some of the things they do, and it worked here on watts bar and chicamauga , they really know how to catch crappie, and can catch them mostly any time of year

This time of year I fish primarily with a roadrunner. If the fish are on the prowl looking for spawning territory, you can cover a lot of territory with it. If the water is stained or muddy, use blue/black. If the water is clear use pearl/yellow/red. Good luck!
