Default I love my boat and I especially love my motor

But as the Gods of Circumstance would have it, the started on the Banshee (25 merc) has died. Thankfully, I have a pull start on it too so I can still get around. But some time soon I'm gonna have to replace the starter. Anybody have an estimate of what that's gonna run Black Crow? I need to start puttin back a little cash for it so I want to get an idea of how much to be savin.

    Thanks

Why don't you just get it rebuilt for about $50?

What year is the motor? My starter went out a bout two years ago and I went a got a new and had it put on yada yada yada boom $150. The new started acting up too. So I just toughed it out (have a pull start too) and thought i would get a new one when I had the money.

My dad took it apart and found that some gunk had accumulated on the brushes inside the starter. Cleaned them off and it is as good as new. Before you go dump the dough on a new one let some one take a look at it (or you if you are bit mechanically inclined) and see if it can be fixed. As a matter of fact my dad has come to the conclusion that the first time i had trouble it was the same situation and I got reamed for the $150. I still have the old one and he seems to think it might work too. We aren't boat mechanics just cheap enough to want to fix it before we have to buy a new part.
