    Default Phillip Fulmer Officially Out

ESPN reported as of 10:30 am Central time that he will not be back next year.

I cant wait to see who they replace him with.

I must say as an Alabama fan Fulmer was never someone I cared much about. But I watched SC whoop them and Fulmer didn't drop a single pass and he did not miss a single block. He hired an OC that wasn't his first or second choice and he has not done a good job IMHO.I do think Fulmer needs to go. He did UT OK in his years there but the game in the SEC has passed him by IMHO. New idea's and new energy has come to the SEC. Ga, Fl and Al have stepped up and hired a new gang of coaches. All I heard when Saban was hired was "it is to much money" . I got news for you" hang on to your checkbook". Good coaches cost money!! Auburn may be doing the same thing who knows. There used to be patsy games in the SEC but not now.

    Pretty good insight there Oldwun.
I'm a Vol inside and out, and it's good to see a 'Bama fan with well thought out words instead of just spewing hate for anything orange. Nice post.

I too thought changes were needed, but IMO, there will have to be alot more changes made to put the VOLS back near the top.

I would not want to be the next Tennessee Head Coach. The fans expectations are so high it is almost impossible to meet them. I watched the press conference. If they held the sports reporters to the same standards as they did Phil they would all be fired. After Coach Fulmer spent 10-15 min explaining the situation with tears in his eyes the first question ask was "Coach how does it feel". STUPID DUDES!!!
Like Charger says it is going to take more than a Head Coach to get the Vols back on track. Will they be given time. Now days you got to win now!!

I think the next guy will be given a few years. At least I hope they give him some time.

I would really like to see Lane Kiffen in Knoxville

My guess is it will be someone with prior SUCCESSFUL head coaching experience. Possibly a former NFL coach like Cowher or Kiffen. There is talk of Jon Gruden, but I don't take it seriously. Whoever it is will be expensive and expected to put a winning product on the field almost immediately. The current debacle at Michigan won't be tolerated. Spurrier has already said he isn't interested. The rumor mill is spinning furiously on volnation.com. Of the NFL guys mentioned Cowher and Kiffen make the most sense. I can't see Gruden leaving Tampa right now.

You never know. Saban's family hated Miami and that had a lot to do with him leaving. I lived in Florida for a few years and John Grudens family all live close together. They spend some time together so I don't see him coming here. Fuulmer made it clear that the decision was not his but he would go along with it. Listening to the Sports Animal ( and thats hard for me to do) a friend of Coach Fulmer said the fans and the public were pretty brutal on his family. To the place where they hated to go out. Thats a little to much as far as I am concerned. Slam him if you want but leave his wife and kids alone.

You can hammer me all you want but don't mess with my family or my truck or my boat or my......well you know what I mean.
