Hiwassee - Chickamauga Waters
The crappie are tearing it up from Hiwassee Island to B&B Marina area. Caught 10 good keepers yesterday around fallen trees and stumps and would of had more if we had locked on to this one area when we first arrived. You gotta get rite into the trees and lower your bait down among the limbs. You get hung up a lot but they are there. 4-8 ft depth using a float and 10-12 ft rods. Some guys were casting and slow retrieving white and chartruse jigs and doing well in the creek mouths but were catching a lot of strip, bream and crappie. We had 6 doz. minnows and run out so better go heavy on the bait. Oh don't forget that today is the last day you can fish the sloughs and backwaters between 58 bridge and Blythe Ferry because of the wildlife refuge area being closed from Nov 1 to March 1.
