    Default Tough On Normandy

Fought the wind for half the day but managed to fillet 9 decent crappie (just finished eatin' 'em:D ) It was a first for me today - a couple of different experiments 1.) Bought and tried out a 5'6'' Berkley Tactix Ultralight which i really liked , and 2.) caught all fish on baits/colors i've never tried before. The ramps are pretty much unusable unless you've got a four wheel drive and even then yer pushin' yer luck. Saw a couple boats out there , but they were just launching off the bank wherever they could find semi-solid ground...looks like i could pretty much have the lake to myself this winter unless they get some WICKED rain down there.

Hey, don't rub it in about the boat ramps! Went to Tims Sunday. Kept 6 good crappie. Got my first Highbred. First one broke me off with half my line and chased the 2nd one for about 10 minutes with the troller. Scale said 4-11 but he pulled like he weighed 20!

I have fished this lake for years with good results for crappie. It is depressing to look at the lake and not be able to launch your boat. The southeastern section of Middle Tennessee is 34 inches below normal rainfall over 2 years and the outlook is grim. I'm ready to start fishing from the bank.

yes it is depressing! I've only lived in the area for a short time but in that time I found that Normandy is a great crappie lake. However, Tims and Woods are much better than what I was used to in Iowa!! Don't sell the boat yet, we could have a wet winter.

Sorry 'Hawk , wasn't trying to rub anything in there , just stating facts...you could probably launch off the bank like some of them do. By the way , nice hybrid there...i usually only "luck into" those fightin' fools in the spring while long -lining jigs for crappie between stakebeds.

Look at the bright side in a few weeks we'll be able to get to all the spots from shore. ( HOPE NOT ) I'm more worried about the fishery in the long run, lack of water makes it easier for the predators to pursue the little guys that we'll need to catch in the next few years.
