    Default Chickamauga in early June.

Hey guys. I'm from central Ky. My wife has family in hixson Tennessee right next to chickamauga. We are headed down for a stay sometime the week of June 9th. I've read a few things about the lake but never been to it. What can I expect this time of year? Horrible crowds? Not so bad? Main river crankbaits? Shoot docks? Thanks for any help!

I can give you a general bit of information for the month of June. I am usually fishing the main river channel system. Looks for places where creeks, branches, etc intersect with the main channel. If you can find stumps, brush, rock piles nearby, you may hit the jackpot. You can find several underwater islands in the mid lake area that are worth checking out. Fish the downstream cuts whenever you find them. I like 3/32 oz jig heads and Bobby Garland plastics rule Chickamauga. Docks can be good and large bays such as Dallas Bay aka Chester Frost park area, Waconda Bay, Harrison Bay, and big creeks like Soddy creek, Possum creek and Wolftever creek are usually hotspots. The upper park of the lake, I rarely ever fish, mainly because of the distance that I would have to drive. Grin. Hope this gives you something to think about. If you see a Blue/Silver G3 167V out there in the mornings, that might be me. Stop and chat for awhile.
