    Default Melton hill 2/7/18

My son and I went to Melton for a little while yesterday. I have a couple of spots marked with some really deep trees in about 49'-54' feet of water, where I've caught fish the past few winters. We pulled up and dropped our minnows down, and I had one on before I even had the bail closed. I got excited that we were about to really get it on, but that was the only fish we caught. I got one other bite about 20 minutes later that I missed, then my boy got cold and wanted to go home. I took him home and went back out, and caught one more in the same spot and never got another bite. Got kind of windy and started raining so I had to call it a day.
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.

Glad you got to go fishing. Any size to the Crappie? Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the report. This has definitely been my worst crappie winter.

It seems that the fishing has been tough everywhere but better weather/better fishing are coming, hopefully!
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!

Definitely! I just always enjoy the winter fishing. You know, three trailers in the lot, no crowding from the “spawn only” anglers. Maybe we’ll get a couple weeks of good fishing before the masses appear!
