Let me know how those chunky black crappie like them down there on your home lake Dickie. I started experimenting with them when I saw just how big of a bait fish a crappie would eat. I have mainly just used them for verticle fishing in colder water.

Gene...a crappie is going to eat anything that swims by it that will fit in it's mouth. White crappie will eat 4-5 inch drum. I was a little skeptical of that until I found a 6-inch drum wedged in a white crappies mouth in Harrison Bay. They were both still barely alive on top of the water. I pulled the drum out of it's mouth and it swam off but the crappie didn't survive. In this case it bit off a little more than it could chew. It was eye opening for me as to what size fish a crappie would try to eat.
