Default First trip to Hiwassee with DK and his grandson Daniel 12/3/17

My day started when I rolled over and looked at the clock.. 4am. So much for a good nights rest. So I drag myself out of my nice new warm bed and said to myself, "self you might as well go fishin'". Short time later the boat is all hooked up and ready to go. Had breakfast at the Hungry House when they opened at 5am, on a Sunday. Sitting there with my coffee I Sent my buddy DK a text would he like to join me, he's gonna kill me if I don't stop sending him texts at 5:30 in the morning . He accepted and said his grandson was with him for the weekend, I said bring him along. Daniel is a pleasant young man kinda quiet and funny. We started with foggy conditions, slow to improve. We started at the 58 bridge waiting for the fog to burn off. Then we made a short run down the river to a spot where we found a few fish willing to play, brush in about 8-10 fow, water temp was 52 as best as I can remember, where we put 3 in the livewell, we meaning DK. I caught several bluegill on the spot had they been any larger they would have joined the crappie in the livewell. Made a move to a bluff area where DK added to the collection. As the sun grew higher in the sky we returned to the bridge and of course DK added a few more still, With only 4 keepers we gave them to a couple fishermen who's cranking battery was dead that was only able to troll around the bridge area. All and all a beautiful day to be on the water. We had plenty of company with the Sea Gulls and Sand Hill Cranes in the area in abundance. Lure colors were many, BG Vegas put the gills on the line and DK landed his on BG Eclipse. Sadly Daniel didn't hook up today, Crappie are wiley little kritters and the bite is some time's hard to detect. DK snapped a few photos maybe he will contribute those.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there is no one out to get you

Daniel and I had a ball. Even though Daniel didn't catch a fish, I did keep him interested by teaching him how to shoot a jig using the slingshot method that most use for dock shooting. He picked that technique up really fast. I need to get him on a hot crappie bite so that he can learn the finer parts of detecting a crappie bite. You have to have IT to do this really well. An upside down pic of the first crappie I caught and it wasn't even the biggest one.
