Default A Yankee helping out his southern brothers

Last year some of you guys on this board and the Mississippi board helped me out with some good info. I thought I would return the favor.
My brother was at the Chicagoland sport and fishing show and showed me a new jig they were hyping.
Its called the Illuminator jig. It has a 1/0 hook and only weighs 1/8 of an ounce for a nice slow fall. It comes in red and green and lights up an imbedded LED light when it gets wet.
The price is steep though. $7.00 for 2 jigs. I would need to get a sugar moma to keep me in jigs the way I hang up. Or else go swimming each time I snag.
I'm pretty sure the web site is www.illuminatorlures.com

If that isnt it just google that and you will get it. It looks like a great jig to use around the cypress trees at Reelfoot.

Pricey gimmick. Don't get suckered. Some more help from a yankee. We aren't all bad, but I must admit that a lot are.

I'll pass, but thanks for the tip.
Not sure its a gimmick, they have been using glow-jigs for years, mainly up north for ice fishing.Instead of an LED,they are coated with some type of phos...phosphe....posphe...er..ahhh...glow material

I here ya, that phosepherescent paint has been big for awhile. I cant afford a box full of these new LED lighted jigs, but a few for night fishing the trees sounds good.

Oh, I didn't mean anything awful, and I didn't intend to make it sound like I was talking about you. If I did I apologize. I grew up and live in NY and later in life I have spent a lot more time in the mid west and south and people are just nicer down there. I'm a kidder. Don't take it too seriously. I own 3 small businesses, and see and talk to a lot of people in NY. When I do business in TN its like breath of fresh air. In general there are more difficult, unpleasant folks who are yankees, and thats comin form one.

Last spring I went to a sportsmans show in Buffalo. There were some guys there selling this lure. http://www.bikinilures.com/web/store-limited.html

It has LEDs and makes a noise like injured baitfish or something. I mentioned crappie.com to them and said that I'd be willing to test a couple of them and report on the website. At the time they hadn't told me they cost $35 plus shipping each. They all looked at me like I had green tenticles growing out of my head and said sure, we will call you, and of course I never heard from them. My point is that I don't like the trend toward super expensive lures that surely wont catch 10 times more fish than normal lures that cost 1/10th or 1/20 as much, and unless you use 20lb test line with those jigs, your gonna lose em like you do any jighead. They cost $7 for 2 with 5 bucks shipping. Thats $6 each. That is an awful lot for any jighead no matter how cool it is, and in my mind makes it a pricey gimmick.

Amen Grizz. I just bought 1500 jig heads fer $5.35 at a Hudson's Dirt Cheap. So 6.00 a piece is a little steep in my book too.
