I stayed out on the lake a little too long the other evening. When I got back to the ramp it was completely dark. I carry a spot light with me and when I got it out and shined it into the water I saw millions of small shad. I had been marking these fish all day on my electronics and they were about twelve feet deep. I turned around and went back into the creek and then the river channell and it was the same everywhere-zillions of bait size shad! Now, growing up, we caught quite a few crappie fishing under lanterns during the hot summer time. Have any of you guys tried crappie fishing at night during the cold winter time? Seems to me, if the bait is up super shallow then the crappie shouldn't be far behind. Just a thought.
There are some serious night stalkers on, I think its the North Carolina forum. They do it year-round. Ask Rango about it.

I would enjoy the first half hour....and then I would head to the truck for heat and coffee. I guess I have turned into a fair weahter fisherman at 37.![]()
