Roadrunners vs. other type jigs....
...was just wondering, how would ya'll rate the various roadrunner jigs with attached spinners versus the regular curly-tail or maribou jigs as far as effectiveness? I just bought a handfull on sale at BPS and am gonna give 'em a try soon....any variation in presentation required? I've heard they're great for vertical jigging....

Roadrunners
Bushrod,
I use the roadrunners for casting to cover, drifting and slow trolling varying the size to the type of fishing. I normally use the 1/16 & 1/8 oz plain heads and add a 2 or 3 inch curly tail, 2 inch tubes or smaller curly tails when needed. The biggest crappie I caught at Reelfoot last April came on the 1/16th with a charteuse 3 inch curly tail grub. I think you'll like using them once you start catching fish on them and adjusting to fit your style of fishing. The added flash of the spinner helps attract crappie when they are suspended or not actively feeding. I haven't used them jigging into cover, so I can't offer info there. Hope this helps you and good luck using them.
